Overview
Intel® Security Controller enables software-defined security by providing an abstraction layer between the security infrastructure and virtualization management of software-defined infrastructure (SDI) in the data center.
It is designed to broker between orchestrators, software-defined networking (SDN) controllers, security solutions, and management applications for dynamic and automated security provisioning, policy management, protection, and remediation. Intel® Security Controller adapts to virtual workload requirements, bringing together the performance and agility of SDI with the awareness and intelligence of the Security Connected framework from McAfee.
Securing VMware NSX Data Centers with Next-Generation IPS
In its first release, Intel® Security Controller integrates McAfee Virtual Network Security Platform appliances within VMware NSX environments to provide next-generation IPS protection and compliance support for the data center.
A single controller communicates with multiple VMware NSX and vCenter deployments, and McAfee Network Security Manager appliances, to synchronize policy management and enforcement. It supports VMware micro-segmentation and a VMware ESX Agent version of the McAfee Virtual Network Security Platform sensor within its security function catalog so that it may be provisioned as a distributed security appliance.
Intel® Security Controller v1.0 is available to customers of the McAfee Virtual Network Security Platform.
