Windows Vista introduces powerful new technologies that will help your people do their best work. It will help them collaborate and communicate more effectively—easily connecting them to corporate resources, to the Internet, and to each other—regardless of their locations. It will also help your business lower costs, improve security, and comply with regulatory requirements.

Windows Vista — designed and developed with an application compatibility focus
Microsoft has kept application compatibility at the forefront during the development of Windows Vista. During the design process, application compatibility reviews ensured the design of Windows Vista had taken application compatibility into full consideration when adding or modifying features.
During development, as the engineering team released new test versions of Windows Vista, Microsoft’s Application Experience Team tested over 800 applications from more than 150 ISVs against each build to ensure the highest possible levels of compatibility were achieved.
Even when small application specific issues are discovered in testing, changes are requested through the engineering team to determine if application compatibility can be addressed immediately in Windows Vista. If not, small application fixes to the operating system allow some legacy programs to remain fully functional on Windows Vista.
And as security enhancing changes were designed into the basic file structure, system processes were also re-designed to automatically handle re-mapping to the new file structures, keeping most legacy applications fully compatible.
